GAINESVILLE, TX - A Gainesville kindergartener and his little brother were expecting today to be just like any other Friday. They didn't know that their mom, a U.S. Soldier stationed in Kuwait, was planning on dropping in for a surprise visit.

The stage was set, but what five year old Cody Prescher didn't know was that he was the star of the show.

"I've always wanted to surprise him," said MSG Monica Prescher, "and my original tune was to sit down at school with him or in church and do the reading."

Master Sgt. Monica Prescher has been in the U.S. Army for nearly twenty years. She's currently on a tour in Kuwait. When she found out she was coming home for a two week break, she called Patsy Henry, Cody's teacher, and told her she wanted to surprise him. Henry hatched a plan.

"I decided to write the little skit," said Henry. "Something really short just so we would have something she could come out to and surprise him. So that's what she did."

While the kids were getting ready to perform, Prescher was hiding out in the kitchen preparing for an ambush.

"Oh just to hug him and squeeze him and to never let him go during these two weeks that i'm home for," Prescher said.

Nearly a hundred people gathered in the St. Mary's school cafeteria to see the show. The students gave their presentations, but during the final act, Cody's presentation, there was a bit of a plot twist.

"This is my mom, Monica Prescher, who is in Kuwait fighting for our country's freedom." said Cody.

A happy ending to stellar performance. Prescher says she plans on making the most of every minute she has with her children during her break.

"What are we gonna do," she said. "We're going to go to the zoo," said Cody. "We're going to the zoos and the parks and to Ft. Worth, the museum. There's a dinosaur exhibit going on," said Prescher.

Prescher has dedicated her life to the army, but will be retiring at the end of the year to be with her sons.

"How do you feel now that your mommy's home?" "Happy," Cody said.
