ARDMORE, OK -- A local animal shelter participated in Black Friday for the first time by making all adoptions just $5 dollars.

Friday afternoon hundreds of people visited Ardmore Animal Care and dozens walked out with a new best friend. The one-day opportunity ended at 4 p.m., but shelter workers say they still have hundreds of pets begging for homes.

You can still get a deal this month because all adoption fees for cats and dogs are half off. Co. Director of the shelter Tena Layton says all pets deserve a good home, especially during the holiday season.

"Seeing the little boy being able to get a puppy. That always makes you happy. Anytime a pet gets placed into a home it always makes you happy," Layton said.

The shelter says if you cannot get a pet they are always looking for volunteers to help give them love and affection. If you want to volunteer, or learn how you can adopt visit Ardmore Animal Care's website at www.ardmoreanimalshelter.org.
