GAINESVILLE, TX -- A man has been arrested for a brutal assault last weekend, that left the victim in serious condition.

Vernon Lee Davis voluntarily turned himself in at the Gainesville Police Department around 4 pm.

Police say early Saturday morning, he severely beat Eric Trout in the Home Depot parking lot just off highway 82.

When officers got there, they found trout lying on the pavement. He was flown to an area hospital. No word on his condition.

Davis faces charges
