SHERMAN, TX -- A conviction and sentence was handed down Tuesday to a man who broke into a Sherman home and tried to stab the man inside.

Steven Foust was found guilty of burglary and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to five years in prison on each count to run concurrently.

Police say when Foust broke into a house on North Ricketts in February the man inside confronted him.

Police say Foust threw a chair at the man, and then tried to stab him.
