CARTWRIGHT, OK - A Cartwright man has been arrested In connection with the murder of his girlfriend this weekend. Investigators say 54-year-old Ralph Victor Boyd is now in the Bryan County Jail for stabbing 49-year-old Linda Gail Horton to death in her home.

"I come outside to let the dogs out and I look over there and the fire trucks there in the middle of the road and I'm like what's going on." a neighbor said.

The Bryan County Sheriff's Department says around noon yesterday they responded to a call from the Cartwright Fire Department. Boyd had alerted them he stabbed Horton and her body was still in the house on Denison Avenue and 3rd Street.

"We go out there and it's a female been stabbed a couple, 3 times. We believe the death occurred almost 12 hours before that, and the subject has been arrested, and most likely, he has not been arraigned, but probably going to be charged with murder," said Bryan County Sheriff Bill Sturch.

Neighbors say police being out at this place was nothing new. Just three years ago Boyd was arrested for domestic abuse and although the case was later dismissed, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim.

Sheriff Sturch says the stabbing may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, but they're investigating the motive and should be presenting the case to the District Attorney's Office in 24 hours.

Friends and neighbors are still in shock.

"I'm scared. I never thought that this would happen by me, especially in this little town," said a neighbor.
