Plane crashes near Ardmore airport

ARDMORE, OK-- A mechanical problem is believed to be the cause of a plane crash at the Ardmore Downtown Executive Airport, Monday evening.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, around 6:15, 25-year-old Liu Zhenzhou was attempting a "touch and go" landing, but as he was trying to gain altitude, a mechanical problem caused the plane to lose power.

The single engine Cessna crashed in a wooded creek, just northwest of the runway.

Zhenzhou was the only person on board, and was not hurt.

Officials say no one else was hurt, and the FAA will be on scene Tuesday to investigate.
