DURANT, OK - We could soon know the fate of a Sherman man accused of raping and killing an 11-year-old girl almost two years ago.

35-year-old Jason Lee Belew pleaded not guilty to first degree murder back in January. This week we should find out if he'll go to trial or accept a plea deal from prosecutors.

Investigators say Belew raped and then strangled Dakota Hughes of Cartwright, Oklahmoma, to death while she was staying at a relative's house in October 2009. He was arrested and brought to the Bryan County Jail later that week, where's he being held without bond.

Belew was scheduled to appear in court this morning, but a judge pushed it back to Wednesday afternoon.

Prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty in the case.
