SULPHUR, OK -- A Murray County man has been ordered to pay $15,000 dollars to the government after he cut down trees in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

The US attorney's office says William Jester was involved in a civil lawsuit with the government, acting on behalf of the National Park Service.

Jester owned a lot adjacent to the recreation area and allegedly cut down trees to improve his view of the lake.

The National Park Service says that it is against the law to modify any plants or terrain on park property.
