SHERMAN, TX -- With coffee consumption accounting for at least eighty percent of caffeine use in the world, its no wonder the drink gets its own holiday! From lattes to cappuccinos, Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee every day.
Now research shows it offers more health benefits than just an energy boost.
From lowering your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease and dementia to providing a boost of antioxidants.
The newest report, released this week by the Harvard School of Public Health, shows coffee can help women avoid depression. Ladies who drink two to three cups a day can reduce their chances of getting depression by 15 percent.
With all this good news about the little brown bean, National Coffee Day was celebrated with drink deals at 7-11, Krispy Kreme and Thornton's.
We caught up with some Texomans getting their caffeine fix this morning at the Boiler Room and Starbucks in Sherman. Most of the people we talked to today said they didn't even know it was national coffee day!
So grab a cup of decaf, you still have a few more hours to celebrate.
