DURANT, OK-Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin stopped by Durant Monday rallying her supporters in her campaign for a second-term in the governor's seat. But she also tackled some hot button issues for Oklahomans.

Governor Fallin arrived at Durant's Choctaw Event Center Monday afternoon greeted with a standing ovation by hundreds of her supporters.

"Oklahoma's experiencing a great comeback," she said.

Fallin said she's focused on economic growth and she plans to keep state government spending in check if she gets elected a second time.

"We started out with a $500 million shortfall three years ago and now we have a half a billion dollar surplus in our state. Our unemployment rates dropped from 7 percent to 5.3 percent throughout the state so jobs are growing," she said.

Choctaw Nation Chief Greg Pyle said the governor's pro-business platform won his support.

"She's created so many jobs in this state she's passed a worker's comp law that's been fantastic in the state," he said.

According to the Tax Foundation--a research group in Washington D.C.--Oklahoma has the 22nd lowest income tax rate in the nation at 5.25 percent this year.
That's why State Rep. Dustin Roberts said he supports the governor.

"Pro growth, staying in the direction we're going right now. Beating the other states in economic growth and job growth and moving our state forward with lower tax rates," he said.

Fallin said, if elected, she plans to invest more than $200 million in education creating programs to encourage Oklahomans to pursue a college degree. And providing funding to districts across the state to build classrooms that double as safe rooms to help avoid tragic deaths like those that happened in Moore.

"We're working on raising private sector funds, using FEMA funds, some other sources of funding to be able to not only put in safe rooms but to also protect our children against any intruders," she said.
