OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - As Election Day approaches, Republicans in Oklahoma are hoping to keep the "reddest state in the nation" moniker they earned in 2008 when President Barack Obama failed to win a single one of the state's 77 counties.

Oklahoma Republicans also are hoping to capture all five of the state's congressional seats for the first time in state history. The 2nd Congressional District in eastern Oklahoma is the only seat held by a Democrat, but current U.S. Rep. Dan Boren declined to seek a fifth term in office.

In that race, Republican Markwayne Mullin faces Democrat Rob Wallace.

There's also an open congressional seat in northeast Oklahoma's 1st District after Republican Jim Bridenstine knocked off incumbent U.S. Rep. John Sullivan in the primary. Bridenstine faces Democrat John Olson.
