Okla. governor's general counsel dies of stroke

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin's general counsel has died after suffering a stroke.

Fallin spokesman Alex Weintz confirmed Sunday that Judy Copeland died late Saturday at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Weintz says Copeland suffered a stroke early Thursday morning.

Appointed shortly after Fallin was elected last year, Copeland previously held the same position under the state's last Republican governor, Frank Keating.

She had also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney, an assistant district attorney in Oklahoma County and an assistant attorney general.

Weintz says details on funeral services have not been finalized.
