PARIS, TX-- Paris Police began enforcing the city's new smoking ordinance Thursday, and say so far they haven't issued any citations.
The ordinance, passed by the city council last month, bans smoking in all public places, but allows the use of e-cigarettes.
Private clubs and bars are excluded from the ordinance. People we talked to believe the ordinance will not impact local businesses.
"If you go to a store, if they let you smoke in it that's their profit," said Paris resident Regina Nichols. "We bring in profit whether we smoke a cigarette in there or not."
Anyone who violates the new ordinance could be fined up to $2,000.
