Paris Police investigate quadruple homicide

PARIS, Texas (AP) - Police are investigating as homicides the shooting deaths of four men found at a house in northeast Texas.

A woman called 911 Wednesday night to say someone was bleeding at a house in Paris, about 100 miles northeast of Dallas. Emergency responders found four men dead in a front room of the home.

Paris police said Thursday they could provide no details about suspects or the circumstances of the shootings.

Police Chief Bob Hundley Jr. says two other men were in the house at some point Wednesday night. Hundley says one of those has been interviewed and the other is arrested on unrelated charges.

The deceased are: 18-year-old Romello Dewain Steward; 21-year-old Devante Laray Akins; 24-year-old Brijonne Rashad Woods and 32-year-old Billy Charles Carey.

Press Release from Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley:

The Paris police department received a 9-1-1 call from a female caller around 11:23 PM last night. She was reporting someone bleeding.

Paris Fire, EMS and police responded to the scene and upon arrival found four individuals deceased in a residence at 435 NE 6th Street.

All four individuals were found in a front room of the house. Each victim looked to have apparent gunshot wounds. Autopsies were ordered by Judge Gene Hobbs.

The department has not identified any witnesses to the shooting.

Investigation revealed there were two other men in the house at some point during the evening. Investigators have interviewed one of the men and the other man was arrested on unrelated charges.

The deceased have been identified and next of kin notified. They are:
Romello Dewain Steward, 18 of Paris
Devante Laray Akins, 21 of Paris
Brijonne Rashad Woods, 24 of Paris
Billy Charles Carey, 32 of Garland

Paris police investigators and Texas Ranger Stacey McNeal have been processing the very complex crime scene all night clearing the scene at 8:05 AM this morning. From the preliminary investigation, any form of a murder / suicide has been ruled out.
