Paris first responders honored for saving life

PARIS, TX -- Paris first responders were honored at Monday's city council meeting for saving a woman's life.

Captain James Dority, Firefighters Keith Humphrey and Trey Unruh were all presented the Distinguished Service Medal for saving a woman from a burning home in October.

Upon arrival, two of the men rushed into the burning home and found the unconscious woman. Firefighter Unruh cleared several pieces of furniture from the second doorway allowing them to get the woman out safely.

"Less than five minutes upon arrival on the scene, Captain Dority Keith Humphrey and Firefighter Humphrey had Ms.Cole to the doorway, where other responders helped move her away from the burning structure," said Paris Fire Chief Larry Wright.

Dispatcher Tony Foreman was also recognized for dispatching crews and keeping the woman calm until first responders arrived. All firefighters involved in the rescue will receive a Unit citation award.
