Paris woman's shelter receives grant

PARIS, TX -- The New Hope Center in Paris will now be able to update their new facility after receiving a $20,000 grant.

The center was awarded the grant this morning after Liberty National and First Federal Community Banks in Paris teamed up with Federal Home Loan Bank in Dallas. The grant will allow the center to purchase new appliances for their shelter that is currently undergoing construction.

New Hope Executive Director, Gay Ballew, says having new appliances is something they will have to get used to.

"Having something that is going to work and function without calling a repairman every other week is going to be outstanding," said Ballew.

The new facility will be able to house 52-people and they are hoping to open the doors before Christmas.
