SHERMAN, TEXAS -- Grayson County residents who haven't paid their toll fees could be penalized when trying to renew their auto registration.

This morning, commissioners approved an interlocal agreement with the North Texas Tollway Authority that allows County Tax Assessor Collector Bruce Stidham to refuse auto registration renewals for habitual violators, with more than a hundred unpaid tolls.

Stidham says Grayson County residents have stacked up more than $330,000 in unpaid tolls in the past seven months.

"There were about 550 habitual violators. That does not include those people who, you know, go and tally up two or three unpaid tolls. These are the habitual violators who have 100+ unpaid tolls," Stidham said.

Stidham says Collin County is the only North Texas county to not form a similar agreement with the NTTA.
