SHERMAN, TEXAS -- At Monday's city council meeting, Sherman city council members awarded a local company with the design contract for the project.

City Engineer Clay Barnett says local company Bill Bigs and Associates will design the $5.6 million dollar road leading up to the bridge, while TXDOT designs and constructs the actual bridge.

The project is expected to take more than two years to complete. The bridge could be closed at least a month during construction.
