TIOGA, TX-Country music star, Randy Travis, remains in critical condition at a Texas hospital Tuesday being treated for viral cardiomyopathy. Victoria Maranan stopped by his hometown of Tioga to catch up with fans and fellow Texomans.

Fans in Tioga said they are keeping the country music star in their prayers as he remains in the hospital. They said whenever Randy Travis is in town, he finds a way to give back to the community.

Tioga business owner, James Hilliard, said he was shocked to hear that country music star and fellow Tiogan, Randy Travis, had fallen seriously ill.

"We've been watching the news and praying for him as we would any of our friends and customers, you know? Just hoping the best for him," he said.

Hilliard said Travis stops by his restaurant, Clark's Outpost Barbecue, regularly whenever he's in town much to the surprise of his customers.

"They saw him and on his way back out...he stopped and took photos with them and he's just a down to earth fella." (Hilliard)

Travis' publicist released a statement Tuesday saying the Grammy winner remains in critical condition days after he was admitted into a Texas hospital for viral cardiomyopathy, a heart condition caused by a virus. Doctors also used a pump to help stabilize his heart.

"It was a shock to all of us, we know he's a busy man and travelling all over the place. When especially people here in Tioga heard that he was very sick, everyone was very concerned about him."

Tioga Police Chief, Steve Thomas, said Travis likes to show his support for the community. In fact, last fall, the singer donated some of his albums for an auction raising a thousand dollars for the Tioga Police and Fire Departments.

"He actually came over at his own accord and donated some albums that were autographed. He told us to use em however we needed to and however we wanted to," he said.

Both Thomas and Hilliard are hoping a quick recovery for Travis.

"We're praying for you and we're hoping for the best," said Hilliard.

"Hopefully Randy gets well and gets back to doing what he does," said Thomas.

No other details of Travis' condition have been released. He thanked fans in the news release "for their love and support during this time."
