OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Pat Ownbey issued the following statement Tuesday regarding the end of the 2013 special session that began Tuesday, Sept. 2, and ended Monday, Sept. 9:
“When the governor issued the call for state lawmakers to come into Oklahoma City for a special session, my colleagues and I were determined to get the job done quickly so as to keep the cost down,” said Ownbey, R-Ardmore. “We have kept to a tight schedule we set for ourselves and completed the work in five days, even while giving a fair hearing to both opponents and proponents in debate. In regular session, this same task would have likely taken months.”
Ownbey was among a small group of lawmakers who were given the task of presenting bills on the House floor. He presented House Bill 1005, which was approved 96-1, and Senate Bill 10, which was approved unanimously.
