ARDMORE, OK-- Emergency Management Agencies from the City of Ardmore, City of Davis, Carter, Garvin, Love and Murray Counties, along with the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Severe Weather Awareness/Disaster Preparedness Day February 25, 2012 at the Ardmore Convention Center, 2401 North Rockford Road, in Ardmore from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Are you interested in learning how you can better prepare you and your family in the event of a disaster? Interested in developing an emergency supply kit? Are you interested in learning how you can volunteer to help your community in the event of a disaster? Then this is the event to attend. This event will host several emergency response agencies from Carter, Garvin, Love and Murray counties.
Volunteer agencies, emergency response organizations and emergency management agencies will be on hand to provide information and assistance to any individual wanting to develop personal disaster plans, have their weather radio programming checked, or to receive information on volunteering and to better prepare for disasters or emergencies. This event is open to the public and is free.
With the main focus of the day being Severe Weather Awareness and Disaster Preparedness, the area's only Storm Spotter Training session will also be held this day. The training session will begin at 1:30pm, and will be presented by the National Weather Service Norman Forecast Office. Anyone interested in learning how to identify, report, and general safety concerning hazardous weather is welcome to attend.
