Sherman city council approves $40,000 Homeland Security grant

SHERMAN, TX -- The Sherman City Council approved acceptance of a $40,000 Homeland Security grant at Monday's meeting.

Jeff Jones, Sherman fire chief, said the grant will go toward radios and other communication equipment .

The improved equipment will help better communicate with other Texoma departments.

He said it's an annual award from the federal government.

The grant was created after the September 11 attacks to keep regional communications up to date.
