SHERMAN, TX -- Sherman firefighters are investigating what caused a vacant house to go up in flames Tuesday night.

It happened on the corner of Park and Travis Street just after 6 P.M.

Fire Chief Jeff Jones says the house was fully engulfed when they arrived.

He says though the house was reported vacant, utilities were still turned on, which meant the flames were being fed by the natural gas line.

Jones says there were no signs of injuries when they arrived but they were unable to tell if anyone was trapped inside the house.
