SHERMAN, TX - Two men were arrested Tuesday after police say a domestic disturbance escalated to gunfire in a Sherman neighborhood near Austin College.

Sherman Police were called to a house in the 1600 block of College Street around 12:45 p.m. where a man had fired several shots at a woman in a car outside her house.

Sgt. Bruce Dawsey tells us it started as a domestic disturbance. They say 29-year-old Benjamin Gibbs tried to stop a woman from leaving the home by firing several shots at her vehicle. When police arrived, Gibbs was inside the house armed with a pistol.

"The victim was able to depart the area or leave the scene without being injured. Once officers responded and set up a perimeter, they made contact with the suspect, and he came out and cooperated," Dawsey said.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident. Gibbs is currently in Grayson County Jail on charges of deadly conduct - discharging a firearm and family violence. 36-year-old Adrian Lomar Jackson is also in custody, facing charges of tampering with evidence for hiding the gun.
