ARDMORE, OK - Crews from Oklahoma City and Durant have been brought in to help put power lines back up after an intense storm uprooted trees and blew down power lines Tuesday night in Ardmore.

OG&E says nearly 1,200 Ardmore residents were left without electricity after last night's storm. They say they hope to restore it by the end of the day.

Fred and Mary Paul have lived in their home off Myall Street in Ardmore for 30 years.

"We just stayed in the house and watched it blow because it must have been 70-80 mph winds," Mr. Paul said.

They say they have seen their fair share of storms while living in southern Oklahoma, but call last night's impressive.

"And the wind was so intense we couldn't even open our back patio door to go out," Mary Paul said.

"Our street department is out right now cleaning up the debris. Hopefully they will have all of that cleaned up today. Their second job is to try to get the storm drain cleaned out because we are expecting more rain later on this week," Ardmore emergency manager Amber Wilson says.

Wilson says since there was no warnings issued with last night's storm, they don't have an exact reading of wind speed.

"it was just one of those freak deals, a microburst and you cant really predict that."

Although the storm did leave behind a mess.

"We have a lot of trees down, some of them uprooted."

Emergency management says no one was injured, there was no major property damage. And we got some much needed rain.

But resident like Mary Paul say Mother Nature had their full attention last night.

"No we are not really pros at storms. We try to stay out of their way."

Carter County emergency management says we've received somewhere between one and 1.5 inches of rain. They want to remind everyone we are still under a state wide burn ban.
