(SHERMAN, TEXAS) -- The Texoma regional blood center says they are in critical need of O Negative blood.
Only 7% of the population has O negative blood.O Negative is the universal blood type that can be given to anyone, however, patients who have O Negative blood type can only be transfused with O Negative.
DeeDee Morehead with The Texoma Regional Blood Center says blood is needed for a multitude of reasons, "well it can be accidents that occur..there's a lot of accidents on the highways..cancer patients..heart patients..you know it can be a multitude of anything..just whatever's going on at the hospital."
If you'd like to donate, The Texoma Regional Blood Center is open until 5:30 today and from nine to one tomorrow. They will be having a blood drive at Brookshire's in Pottsboro on Monday. You can visit texomablood.org for more information.
