VALLEY VIEW, TX - A man who was shot yesterday by a Texas State Trooper after a violent struggle may be charged with aggravated assault of a public servant.

Texas DPS officials tell us 41-year-old Frank David Correia, pictured here in a 2011 mug shot, was on a stolen motorcycle yesterday afternoon in Cooke County when he led the trooper on a chase near Lake Ray Roberts. But Correia crashed on North Shore Drive, and then took off on foot into a nearby wooded area. When the trooper caught up to him, they fought violently before he shot Correia once in the stomach.

Correia was flown to a Fort Worth hospital, where he remains, his condition unknown. The trooper, who has not yet been identified, was not injured.

The Texas Rangers are now investigating the incident.
