DENISON, TX - Two people are dead after a house fire in Denison on Friday.

The Denison Fire Department got a call about heavy smoke after this morning on Carla Drive.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the back of the home. During their initial walk-through, firefighters found two dead bodies, along with four dogs and 12 cats who died in the blaze.

Although the bodies were identified, their names have not been released pending notification of their family.

Denison Assistant Fire Chief Bill Ray said on an early call like this one, firefighters have a special protocol.

"That time of morning our first thoughts are always if someone is asleep in the house so we'll do an initial search when firefighters will make entry."

The fire marshal is investigating, and the fire is not suspicious.
