Grayson Co. officials continue to investigate May homicide

GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas -- The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is still chasing down leads in an unsolved murder case. News 12 checked in with them for an update on the investigation.

Three months ago we reported the body of 48-year-old Albert Duane Parker, of Denison, was found in a field just east of Sherman.

Officials say an unsolved murder case like this one is unusual in Grayson county, and because of the circumstances and seriousness of Parker's case, a thorough investigation is going to take more time.

Authorities estimate Parker's body had been in the field on Baker Ridge Road, just off Highway 82, for a day or two before Sherman Police got the call that someone had found his body.

Online records do show parker had an extensive criminal history, dating back to 1983. They also show he had been released from prison, where he was serving time on drug charges, about two months before his murder.

Authorities say Parker was found clothed, and had visible abrasions on his body--which was taken for an autopsy.

"We find a body and we've got so many different directions to go, and we start from nothing and we build upon that. We have a lot of rabbit trails to go down, some of them produce fruit and some of them don't, but we have to cover them all," said Sgt. David Russell with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

We'll continue to follow the investigation.
