Valentine's Day is busy for local florist

DENISON, TX-- Americans are expected to spend about $18 billion on their loved ones this Valentine's Day. Local florists said their customers are spending more than expected this year.

Castleberry Florist said, on average people normally spend around $50, but this year they're spending more than $100 on flowers and other gifts.

People are buying bigger and better this year for their loved ones. Florists Denison have been working around the clock, the past week, to prepare for the holiday.

They say the most popular arraignment is still old-fashioned red roses, but more people are spending money on balloons and stuffed animals.

The flower shop has seen a spike in sales this year, compared to other Valentine's Days.

"This year, I was surprised, we've had more orders ahead of time, than we've ever had. And we've also had more orders, last minute, than we've ever had," said,owner of Castleberry Florist, Shawna Lee.

Orders are still coming in. You can order flowers online, by phone, or you can just walk in.

Castleberry said they will take orders until 6:00 Tuesday night.
