DENISON, TX - A Denison roadway remains closed Tuesday after a water main break caused the pavement to buckle.

Workers said they got the call around 2:15 when drivers saw the pavement buckle on the 200 block of Austin Avenue. They also saw water gushing from the cracks.

Denison fire and police departments were also at the scene, closing down the roadway while water crews figure out where the water is coming from. Denison assistant fire chief Bill Ray advised drivers to find a different route because of the road closure, as well as the viaduct construction just a few blocks away.

"You probably need to leave a little earlier and make preparations. Of course it's not a big traffic problem right now, basically it's just a detour around one block so but you need to make preparations on that," he said.

That part of Austin Avenue will remain closed overnight.
