Wife plans surprise dance flash mob for husband's birthday

ADA, OK - An Ada man got the shock of his life Tuesday when his family threw him a one-of-a-kind surprise party.

The Ada Wal Mart rocked out Tuesday all in honor of one very surprised Kevin Holland.

His wife Diana secretly organized a flash mob for his 50th birthday.

"It first started just because my sister who lives in Tampa had been in a flash mob dance over the summer and got to talking about it and thought that would be a really fun way to surprise Kevin for his 50th birthday," Holland's wife Diana said.

The man who said he rarely falls for a trick was shocked.

"A friend of mine, we were gonna go out to walmart, he was going to show me something real quick, or thats what he led me to believe, so I had told him I'll drive you out there so I don't have to get out and I'll just wait in the car and he said 'no, lets just take my car you need to go in,"' Holland said.

Kevin said he's lived in Ada most of his life, so did not think too much about it when he ran into some people he knew at the store.

"I figured they were about to have a big sale and they were going to swarm it," Holland said. "So I turn my back to what is going on back and all the people behind me are starting to kinda gather up."

"I saw my wife come out of the corner of my eye and she had a sign, a big banner that said 'Happy 50th Kevin! This one is for you,"' Holland said.

"Your nerves take over," Diana said. "It was a little nerve wracking but it was so much fun."

Holland, who said had he not been so shocked, he would have probably joined in on the dance.

"I was standing there trying to look like one of the crowd myself because I'm starting to get a little flustered," Holland said. "There was a couple in front of me and they turned around and said, 'who's kevin?' and I said 'I don't know but he must be a really neat guy,'" Holland.

Adding to the surprise, his actual birthday isnt until Jan. 4 and he said on that day you won't find him anywhere near Walmart!

Holland said birthdays have always been a big deal in his family.

"It's certainly going to be hard for her to top next year I feel like, but I know historically shes going to try," Holland said.
