LAMAR COUNTY, TX -- A former North Lamar High School equipment manager is now behind bars accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Paris Police say the child was not a student at North Lamar High School.

Police say they received a call on October 7th from parents telling them their 16-year-old daughter was pregnant by 40-year-old Winton Braxton.

"During the interview process with Mr. Braxton he admitted to having relations with this girl," said Paris PIO Curtis Garrett.

Through an investigation, a warrant was issued for Braxton, and he turned himself into the Lamar County Sheriff's office on October 29th.

Braxton is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child.

He was fired from North Lamar High School when the allegations surfaced last month.
