Okla. super. says she will explore testing options

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Schools Superintendent Janet Barresi says she will explore all options to ensure the needs of students and school districts are met following a series of technical glitches in student testing that caused testing to be stopped this week.

Women's groups decry appeal on morning-after pill

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration's decision to appeal a court order lifting age limits on purchasers of the morning-after pill set off a storm of criticism from reproductive rights groups, who denounced it as politically motivated and a step backward for women's health.

Pecan Creek flood plan near completion; Gainesville residents returning to area

GAINESVILLE, TX -- It's been more than 15 years since the city of Gainesville began work on the Pecan Creek Flood Damage Reduction Plan. The area has been known to flood--rising waters even killed three people in the city in 2007. Now, work on the channel is complete, all roadways are finally opened and some residents who'd moved for their own safety are coming back.

US: Morning-after pill OK for ages 15 and up

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. government on Tuesday lowered to 15 the age at which girls can buy the morning-after pill without a prescription and said the emergency contraception no longer has to be kept behind pharmacy counters.

Medal of Honor Society to honor Newtown educators

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - The Congressional Medal of Honor Society plans to honor the six educators killed in the December massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut with its highest civilian award.
