Mosquito Control

• West Nile and Equine Virus are true concern.

K.I.S.S. (Keep it Simple and Save)

• Bti (Bacillus thuringienis israelensis) is a bacterial virus that infects and kills mosquito larvae.
o Safe to humans and environment. Very selective - good thing.

How it Works
When ate by mosquito larvae it damages organs and paralyzes them.

• By ½
One dose has shown that a mosquito population can be reduced by half in 15 minutes, the rest in one hour. It comes in broadcasting particles or dunks.

Have a plan
• Patrol your property.
a. Look for possible sources of standing water.
i.e. bird baths, old tires, ditches, out door tubs, unused swimming pools, tree holes, flower pots, vases, roof gutters, over irrigated or poorly leveled (graded) yards and pastures and any area or container where water collects and remains for periods of time.

• Deet and Avon “skin so soft” are great repellants.

Work With Nature

• Install a bat house.
• Barn Swallows eat their own weight.
• Dragon flies are mosquito assassins.
