ARDMORE, OK - For the 7th straight year, the Ardmore Beautification Council held its biannual "shred day" on Thursday to give people an easy and earth friendly way to get rid of personal documents.
The event was held at the Citizens Bank on North Commerce. Volunteers helped citizens unload up to three boxes of unwanted paper documents, filling the File Thirteen shred truck with over three tons of paper.
Director of the Ardmore Beautification Council Norman Lynn Paschall says the event gives people a way to safely get rid of personal papers like bank statements.
"This is just a good way to get those old checks, tax papers, if someone has had a death in the family and you need to get rid of some papers it's just a good, safe way to eliminate those from your life," Paschall says.
If you missed today's shred day, the ABC will hold another one in November.
