The Nestle Prepared Foods Company is recalling nearly 200,000 pounds of frozen Lean Pockets spinach artichoke chicken sandwiches.

The company had been receiving complaints from consumers about pieces of plastic in the sandwiches. While the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service has received no complaints so far, there have been two injuries associated with the recall — one man chipping a tooth and another choking after nearly swallowing a piece of plastic.

“We’ve had two injuries reported and thankfully they haven’t been serious injuries,” said Roz O’Hearn, spokesperson for Nestle.

Nine-ounce boxes of Lean Pockets’ spinach artichoke chicken are in question, officials said, and each box contains two sandwiches. The recalled items were produced at the company’s main factory on May 23 and distributed to different locations nationwide.

The recalled sandwiches were distributed nationwide, have a "Best Before" date of November 2009 on the side of each box and the establishment number P7721A.

The USDA and Nestle are still asking people to check any boxes of spinach artichoke chicken sandwiches as a precaution.

The USDA has classified the recall as Class I, meaning that it is a “health hazard with a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

The 200,000 pounds of product being recalled were most likely all produced on the same day at Nestle’s factory in Kentucky.
