GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- The H1N1 influenza has arrived in Grayson County. Health officials announced this afternoon there are now two confirmed H1N1 cases in Grayson County.
According to the Grayson County Health Department and Grayson County Emergency Management, both people infected with the virus have already made full recoveries. One of the infected persons was identified only as a woman in Grayson County. The other is a student in the Pottsboro Independent School District.
Public health officials say it was only a matter of time before H1N1 appeared in Grayson County and that there is no cause for alarm
"We believe that this is a success story, that while this confirmation is just coming to our attention, there has not been a widespread transmission of this disease in our community," said Sarah Somers, Grayson County Emergency Management coordinator.
Health officials credit the public for the low transmission rate, saying that people washing their hands and staying home when ill has helped keep the flu from spreading.
