While the weather is nice, lots of folks will start hanging those Christmas lights outside. Here’s our Safe Family warning about what could be a fire hazard.

Did you know the wires inside can deteriorate over time, especially if you leave them up year round, or don't store them properly? That can be a fire hazard.

Also if you're using live decorations like a live tree or garland, be careful the lights don't overheat and always double check to make sure there isn't a short.

"Make sure you follow the directions on the lights and on the tree, and if you use a real tree make sure you keep it watered and be safe with it," Sherman Fire Chief Jeff Jones says.
