Safe Family - Super Foods

In today’s Safe Family report we're talking about easy ways to help ward off heart disease, cancer, and more.

Experts say there are dozens of easy to find Super Foods that can do just that. Many of us eat fish, but what about salmon? Salmon is high in Omega 3s; they lower your heart disease risk, help arthritis, and may help with memory loss. Other foods with lots of Omega 3s are flax seeds, walnuts, and fortified eggs.

And why not switch your morning yogurt to Greek yogurt; it contains nearly 3 times the nutrients, including calcium. If you are between 19 and 50 you need at least 1000 milligrams per day.

Blueberries are another food with amazing health benefits. They are packed with antioxidants; not only can they lower your risk of heart disease and cancer, they are also an anti-inflammatory.

One food you might not think of as super healthy is dark chocolate. New research shows it can lower you blood pressure.
