In this Safe Family report, Ryan Loyd is at Waterloo Pool in Denison with how to keep you and your loved ones safe in a high-water emergency situation.
We'll have the video posted later today.
First, always keep your head above water. In pools, it's easier to see where you may be walking. But it may not always be that easy in lakes or rivers.
Lifeguards recommend that if you don't know how to swim, and you are with friends trying to escape the heat, then make sure you know where you're walking.
Don't get caught in an emergency in the first place, but if you do, make sure you have a buddy system in place. That way he or she can help you if you're in trouble, or call someone else for help.
