If you plan on taking your children on a plane anytime soon, the national transportation safety board has a message to parents, buy your babies their own seat.
Board any plane and the rules are clear, all bags must be stowed for take off and landing, seatbelts must be buckled, but it is not so when it comes to babies. The NTSB says it is ok to have lap held children, but that sends the wrong message. All people, especially children, should be buckled in. On its website, the FAA encourages parents to use child safety restraints but it's not ready to make it a rule.
