TMC using new technology to find kidney stones, tumors

DENISON, TX -- Texoma Medical Center's Urology Department is using new digital technology for endoscopy procedures.

It's a new, tiny digital camera that is much smaller than traditional scopes that makes finding kidney stones and tumors much easier.

The camera is on a microchip and provides doctors with a high resolution view inside the human body.

Urologist Dr. Steven Johnson says he can now perform procedures with greater precision and accuracy, and for him and the patient that makes all the difference.

"Imaging is everything in medicine. You have to be able to see a clear picture, and it's extremely exciting to see a high definition medical image. The detail you see is just stunning," Johnson says.

Dr. Johnson also says because the scope is smaller, the recovery is less painful for the patient.
