2 dead in Bryan Co. shooting

BENNINGTON, OK - Two people are dead after a domestic dispute turned tragic Thursday afternoon at a home in eastern Bryan County.

Bryan County Sheriff Ken Golden tells us a man and a woman in a relationship got into an argument around 2 p.m. inside their home in the 37000 block of US Highway 70 in Bennington.

The woman left, and members of her family then came over to the house. When they approached the door, the man inside opened fire, killing two men. A third person who was with the men was not injured.

A short time later law enforcement arrived and took the shooter into custody for questioning.

The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation says the names of these two victim will not be released until the next of kin for both have been notified and that no one has been arrested. They say a male at the scene is in investigative detention. Investigators will serve a search warrant on the home to begin collecting evidence. Officials are also interviewing several witnesses.

No names are being released at this time.

We have a reporter at the scene and will have more as it becomes available.
