Local Coach in Hospital - Serious Illness

Video will be available shortly.

9-8-04 - A beloved football coach in Texoma is battling for his life after falling ill last week.

Jim Dixon coached his Sulphur Bulldogs to a win, but was later diagnosed with encephalitis after being admitted to an Oklahoma City hospital on Saturday. He was placed in the Intensive Care Unit, but as of Wednesday, had improved enough to move out of the ICU.

The potentially deadly virus causes inflammation of the brain spinal cord.

Dixon has coached the Bulldogs for more than 30 years.
