9-10-04 - OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A swarm of earthquakes hit parts of central Oklahoma Thursday.
At least nine minor-impact earthquakes were registered between 3:20 p.m. to ten p.m. in the Minco and Union City areas.
Jim Lawson is the chief geophysicist for the Oklahoma Geological Survey Observatory. Lawson says most of the quakes registered less than two on the Richter scale, but one hit 2.5 around 7p.m. Another hit a 2.6 at 9:55 p.m.
Lawson says a swarm is a group of earthquakes striking an area within a small amount of time. It last happened September 18th, 1997, when at least 12 earthquakes struck Grady County.
