October is a time to remember to make your home safe for your children and the little ones who may come to visit. It's Child Health and Safety month. You can do a lot to help ensure the kid's are happy and healthy.
Take a walk-through of your home. Look for the small things: electrical outlets, stairs, loose items on the floor. Sherman Fire Chief Jeff Jones says to think on their level.
Also, it's important to remember that when your kids go for visits at a neighbor or friends house, the same hazards might lurk there. Jones says maybe do a walk-through of their homes, and have them check yours for items you may have missed.
