Wrong-way Driver Causes Head-on Accident

Video will be available shortly.

9-22-04 - For the 2nd time in 48 hours, a head-on accident has had deadly results in Texoma. One man was killed when he drove the wrong way on state highway 70 in Lone Grove and rammed a pick-up.

It happened around 4:15, just east of Brock road. 57-year-old Donald Cohee was heading west in the eastbound lanes at 65 mph when his Lincoln Towncar hit a Dodge pickup. Three people from Ringling were inside the truck – they sustained various injuries. A seeing-eye dog that was also in the pickup died later at a veterinarian’s office. Despite earlier reports, no children were involved in the accident.

Police have not ruled on a cause for the accident yet, but are leaning towards alcohol because they found two bottles of liquor inside the Lincoln – one of which was open.

The victims from Ringling are in stable condition.
