Possible Break in Hacking Case
10-01-04 - SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Authorities say it'll take a while to determine whether remains found in a landfill are those of a missing Utah woman.
A volunteer found what police say appear to be human remains in a Salt Lake City landfill where they've been searching for Lori Hacking. She's been missing since July, and her husband has been charged with murder.
Police say it will take two weeks of testing to confirm whether the remains are human. A prosecutor says it will take "a while" for identification.
Searchers at the 550-acre landfill concentrated on a portion about the size of a football field, going through compacted garbage 20 feet deep. They plan to continue searching other sections of the landfill while the remains are analyzed.
