A Close Call in Sherman Pile-Up

Video will be available shortly.

10-01-04 – Sherman Police say an early morning accident on Highway 75 Friday could have been much worse. It happened around 6:30 a.m. That’s when a truck crossed the center median, causing a four vehicle wreck, roughly a quarter mile from the site where ten people died nearly two weeks ago.

The driver of a red Dodge pickup crossed the center median of Highway 75, near FM 1417, and went into north-bound traffic, slamming into the side of a white Ford SUV. The SUV then crossed back over the highway into south-bound traffic.

A semi, trying to avoid the wreck rear-ended another semi-truck.

No one was hurt.

It took police an hour to clear both sides of the highway. Officers say speed, combined with wet roads may have caused the first truck to hydroplane.
